Ever since I was a child to me art was something magical, weird, something that tricks your eyes or confuse you and this reflects in my practice today.

For my practice I often draw attention from life experiences with the aim of expressing my concerns about social issues through my art. I draw a lot of my themes from feminist issues such as: body shaming, cat calling, over sexualised body, molestation, sexual, abuse. This are issues that many women must go through in their day to day lives.

My other big inspirations come from different art movements such as Optical Illusion Art, Psychedelic Art, and Pop Art. The artists that really made me re-think my art career are Yayoi Kusama and Victor Vasarely. I want to create the kind of art that people can get lost in.

My arts aim is to reflect upon feelings and experiences that we face in our in the day to day lives. To achieve this, I use abstract shapes and forms inspired by optical illusion art and geometric art.

My latest project is exploring the mental health issues female may experience due to body shaming and the constant need to comply to societies standards of beauty. This constant pressure the female receive can cause a wide range of mental issue such as low self-worth, anxiety, eating disorders and body dysmorphia. This project focusses on how female see themselves distorted and ‘ugly’ because they do not match 100% the societies beauty standard.

Therefore, I wanted to make my digital drawings look distorted and covered in this weird pattern that obscures their clothes, their background, leaving an image that feels like its moving. In a way you can say that the optical illusion helps in making the viewer think they are seeing a mirage.
